Creating has been a life long endeavor for me. In my youth I was always writing stories and drawing pictures, but as I matured, the real world became louder and harder to ignore. Pressures to conform got in the way of my creativity.
Go to university, get a job, get married, have a kid.
I did all the things, but still that satisfying happiness was always out of reach. What was I doing wrong?
I wasn’t being true to myself. Now, this wasn’t an over-night thought. It took months for me to understand what I was thinking. The catalyst though, was my first piece of neurographic art.
When I started it, I was only looking for a way to calm the chattering of my brain. I’d been following the art form on social media and everyone said it was good for getting your thoughts in order. That first day of art work was the most satisfying day I’d had in years. The meditative flow of creating lines and blending in the corners, the freedom of choosing colors and just seeing what would happen, it was freedom from perfectionism.
Everyday, I’m creating. I’m playing with different mediums, experimenting with different styles and just plain expressing myself. I finally feel good. The spark had been lit and there was no putting out the resulting inferno.

The piece that began it all. The Tangled Ember.
